more super-adorable shopping

I am adding another link to my list of great shopping sites.  My friend Jamie spotted some little hanging houses I bought from My Paper Crane and wanted some of her own.  The cutest little sewn-up sweets, doughnuts, milk cartons, and toast, plus the all-important tampon doll!

So we seem to have a wild animal living in the wall in my bedroom.  I noticed that there was some noise coming from behind a removable panel that covers the water meter - when I went to take a look, I noticed some dirt below it.  After much persuading Matt removed the panel - releasing a big heap of rocks and soil...  soooo, I think we need to call a pest removal service tomorrow...  NOT pleased about having to sleep in there tonight...  I have the shivers just writing about this, I have become such a sissy...

...in which Will really moves! (sigh)

No, he hasn't learned to ride a bike.  Rather, Will is walking (Wee Willy walks well).  He had been taking a step or two between pieces of furniture, but  suddenly last night he was all over the place.  He holds his arms out in front of him and takes these funny jerky little steps, particularly amusing before bedtime, fat naked legs all akimbo.

Here it is - I was afraid it would be my life's project - my friend Janet called it my albatross.  I am kinda proud of it.  What do you think?

the livin' is easy

Here is Mimi mermaid in Provincetown.  Our weather at the Cape was not good - we didn't get any beach time at all, really, just a couple of walks in the misty rain.  Amelia found some things to bring  back to school and share.
One day we drove up to Provincetown to walk around.  I like the vibe up there much more than in the lower Cape.  The offbeat funkiness of Ptown is so different from the "we have too much money and can't quite figure out what to do with it and are entitled to everything and so are our incredibly bratty children" environment of the "elbow", which is where we were staying.  It does seem, though, that there used to be more flamboyant gay men with teensy little cutoff shorts that showed their heinies.  Where are they?  My mother suggested that maybe they had to go back to their jobs teaching school :).

Our other August activities included:

Blueberry Picking.  Here are the bigger kids, riding on the truck that took us out to the berry bushes.

We had a picnic at the park, and tried to take some pictures among the roses, but neither of the kids were very cooperative.  Still, we managed a couple good shots.

We went to a 4-H fair, and Amelia went on a carnival ride for the first time. 

And here is Amelia on her first day of school.

She looks a little bit apprehensive, but she did SO GOOD.  I am so proud of her - I forget how confident she has grown until I have an opportunity to see her in action - at school or even at that fair, where I was sure that once the ride began to move she would start screaming and crying.  But she was cool as a cucumber - and disappointed once the ride came to an end.  My baby is growing up!

I'm so proud!!

I don't really mean of this little guy, though he is the sweetest thing ever and I do have a million reasons to be proud of him - I mean of my friend Jamie, who is the owner of Giggles Bibs, one of which Will is wearing in this picture.  You can see that he likes it...  Jamie just got a glowing review on What's Hot for Tots, a sort of Daily Candy type site dedicated to products and services for moms and kids.  Yeah Jamie!!
